Pitso Mosimane: What’s next for now former Al Ahly coach?

Pitso Mosimane is no longer Al Ahly’s coach after his request to leave the club was granted by the board on Monday afternoon.

Pitso Mosimane is no longer Al Ahly‘s coach after his request to leave the club was granted by the board on Monday afternoon.

Mosimane had been with Al Ahly for a little over a year-and-a-half having joined them in October 2020 from Mamelodi Sundowns.

In his first season, the Kagiso-born mentor delivered the CAF Champions League he was hired to win although he joined the team at the semi-final stage.

His second season also saw him win his second successive CAF Champions League with Al Ahly but missed out on winning the league title.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR MOSIMANE NOW THAT HE’S LEFT AL AHLY?

Mosimane would surely have not requested to leave Al Ahly if he had no options and possibly offers in front of him.

Given his pedigree as a serial winner, Mosimane will surely not be short of options now that he’s a free agent.

Mosimane previously indicated that there are new opportunities for African coaches in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and this could be his first option.

If that fails, or nothing concrete comes his way, Mosimane could settle for other top African teams, and Zamalek could be among the frontrunners as they previously showed interest in him.

Returning to South Africa CANNOT completely be ruled out, and with Orlando Pirates in need of a coach, Mosimane could consider them more so because of his close relationship with Dr Irvin Khoza.
