So said the Egyptian giant’s sporting director Sayed Abdelhafiz.

Al Ahly, who are the tournament’s defending champions, stumbled again in the defence of their title on Saturday.

Following a shock away defeat to Simba SC in the second match of the group stage, Al Ahly were expected to prove too strong at home for DRC side AS Vita Club.

However, things didn’t go to plan as the Congolese side were able to snatch the equaliser with a late penalty to keep Al Ahly in third place in Group A at the halfway mark.

“Mosimane is very sad and furious after the draw with Vita Club, which complicated Al Ahly’s position in the group, and we wasted a victory that was within reach,” said Abdelhafiz.

“We will fight in the next three matches to put the team on the right path, just as we entered the deadlock, will try to get out of it.

“If VAR was used, the result would have been different. Why are not all matches played in the capitals of the participating countries applying VAR in all matches?” he concluded.

But prior to that they will be in domestic league action against Ismaily on Wednesday, 10 March.

Kick-off is at 19:30 SA time.

Al Ahly are currently third in the Egyptian Premier League, six points behind leaders Zamalek, albeit having played three fewer matches.
