Egyptian legend Ahmed Hassan has taken aim at Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane following his side’s CAF Champions League draw against AS Vita Club.

While admitting the players should have won the game for Pitso Mosimane on the night, Egyptian legend Hassan has questioned the former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor’s inability to take risks.

Pitso Mosimane’s side dominated the match and arguably could have walked away with a comfortable victory on the day however due to numerous missed chances, they ended up playing out to a 2-2 draw.

Striker Walter Bwalya, who has been a favourite under Mosimane, had a night to forget and was removed just before the hour mark. This decision has come under fire with Hassan claiming Mosimane is ‘finishing’ his players mentally.

Pitso Mosimane must get a reality check – Hassan

“Mosimane should believe that he is the head coach of Al Ahly and must take risks. If you want to give Walter Bwalya a chance, you shouldn’t then ‘finish’ him.” – Hassan said as quoted by KingFut.

“I think Bwalya is a good player, but when you are drawing you should play with two strikers, but Pitso replaced Bwalya with Mohamed Sherif. Pitso Mosimane should have taken the risk.

“In my opinion, Dieng should always be placed first in the starting line-up and then the other players around him, and until now Mosimane hasn’t yet found his optimal squad.”

It was a bad result – Hassan

“AS Vita club result is due to very bad luck. The situation now is difficult and it’s a lesson that the players and Pitso Mosimane should learn from.” – Hassan added.

“I hope Al Ahly don’t regret their result on Sunday because they could have easily won by five goals. The blame should be on the players because they underestimated their opponents and were shocked when they conceded a goal.”
