Only ONE South African player has been selected for the CAF Champions League Best XI after the first leg of quarter-finals over the Easter weekend.

After the four matches were played, Esperance de Tunis and Wydad Athletic Club each have three representatives.

The remaining five players hail from Al Ahly, Petro de Luanda, ES Setif, Raja Casablanca and Mamelodi Sundowns.

The lone Mamelodi Sundowns player to have made the team was Lyle Lakay who scored the Brazilians’ only goal of their shock 2-1 loss to Angolan side Petro de Luanda.

Masandawana did score an all-important away goal which could well prove crucial in the return fixture.

The second leg matches will take place this coming weekend.
