At the halfway mark of the group stages to determine the quarter-finalists, Masandawana lead Group A with seven points.

Al Ahly are in second spot with four points, ahead of Sudan side Al-Merrikh by virtue of having won their head-to-head clash.

The second Sudanese side in the group, Al-Hilal, are currently fourth and last with a single point, but could well have a say in which two teams progress from the group to the last 8.

A win for Mamelodi Sundowns would secure their place in the quarter-finals, depending on the result of the Al-Hilal v Al-Merrikh clash 24 hours earlier on Friday, 11 March at 15:00 SA time.

Al Ahly could be in trouble depending on the result

A defeat for Al Ahly (possible) and a win for Al-Merrikh (probable) would once again put the defending champions in danger of not progressing from the group stage.
