MAMELODI SUNDOWNS ON THE BRINK OF CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TITLE

In the lead-up to this weekend’s second-leg semi-final battle at home to Wydad Casablanca, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has confirmed an increase in the prize money.

The season’s champions will received a bank notification of USD 4000 000, which is the equivalent of R77 million.

“In the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, the winner will get USD 4 000 000 – an increase from the USD 2 500 000,” CAF said in a statement.

“In the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup, the prize money for the winner has increased from USD 1,250,000 to USD 2 000 000,” the report added.

FAVOURITES TO BECOME CHAMPIONS

Having played five home games en-route to the semi-finals, Sundowns have a 100% winning success that includes 18 goals scored and only five conceded.

With an advantageous 0-0 draw away to Wydad in Casablanca last weekend, the Tshwane giants are expected to emerge as winners on Saturday at 15:00.

Meanwhile, Al Ahly will be at home to Esperance after a 3-0 win in the first leg away in Tunisia last weekend.
