Mamelodi Sundowns vs Al Ahly titanic clash could have fans!

The CAF Champions League match between Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns could have fans following a request made to CAF by the champions.

The CAF Champions League match between Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns could have fans following a request made to CAF by the champions.

The two African giants will meet at Al Salam Stadium on Saturday. Kick-off is at 21:00 SA time.

According to Al Ahly executive director Saad Shalaby, the club is already in talks with CAF over their request to have fans attend the titanic clash.

AL AHLY WANT FANS FOR THE MAMELODI SUNDOWNS GAME

“We are speaking with CAF and the security authorities to request fan attendance in the Al Ahly and Sundowns match,” Shalaby told ONTime Sport TV as per KingFut.

This will be a third meeting between Al Ahly and Sundowns since Pitso Mosimane switched allegiance in October 2020.

Mosimane guided Al Ahly to a 2-0 win over Sundowns in his first match before the two sides played to a 1-1 draw in Tshwane in the return leg.

This encounter will also be seen as a game of grudges given the history between the two sides over the years.

Just a few months ago, Al Ahly wanted to sign Gaston Sirino from Sundowns but the Tshwane giants refused to sell their star player.

The match will also see Percy Tau face his former employers, Sundowns, for the first time in his career.

Tau recently joined Al Ahly from Brighton & Hove Albion; the team he left Sundowns for in July 2018 but returned to the continent after struggling for game time.

The left-footer has just returned from a long-term injury that made him miss the FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
