Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and thirteen other DStv Premiership side’s are set to be barred from competing in CAF’s inter-club tournaments from next season!
In fact, only Mamelodi Sundowns will be eligible to take part in either the CAF Champions League or CAF Confederation Cup as things stand.
According to reports, CAF club licensing changes that will come into effect from next season spells bad news for the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Mamelodi Sundowns are are the only PSL top flight club that have a female team. Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, AmaZulu and others now face the serious risk of missing out!
Orlando Pirates have been a standard fixture in recent CAF Confederation Cup campaigns. Kaizer Chiefs themselves went all the way to the final of the CAF Champions League final last season.
SuperSport United have also gone all the way to the CAF Confederation Cup final in recent years. However as things stand, Mamelodi Sundowns are set to represent South Africa alone.
Kaizer Chief marketing director Jessica Motaung did however confirm that the Amakhosi were looking at forming a women’s team.
“If you are going to do it, you have to do it right. I don’t think it’s something that you have to rush.” Kaizer Chiefs’ Jessica Motaung said in 2019 as quoted by EWN.
“You have to look at facilities, different partners and sponsors who come with a different flair. They have relate to the female consumer and female player. For me, it’s something we have to plan and do strategically and do well”.
