Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma has spoken about the importance of the team’s regular participation in the CAF Champions League.

Amakhosi are in the semi-finals of Africa’s premier club competition for the first time in their history, and Bvuma said they should be participating year in and year out.

“It’s very important. A club like Kaizer Chiefs should be playing in this kind of competition every season,” Bvuma told Chiefs media team.

Bvuma said the fact that the Chiefs badge is missing a star is motivation for them, adding that winning the coveted trophy would be the greatest present to Kaizer Motaung.

But above all, Bvuma wants Chiefs to use the CAF Champions League to redeem themselves after the domestic season they had.

“We know we don’t have a star on our badge, and it can be our greatest present to our chairman to win this competition, and also our supporters,” he said.

“Looking at the season we had, I believe this can redeem [us] and make them happy again.”

With this being an off-season in South Africa, Chiefs players were given a week off while Saturday’s opponents, Wydad Casablanca, are heavily involved in their domestic league.

However, Bvuma believes this could work both in their advantage and disadvantage but he feels his teammates are ready and fresh for Wydad.

“It’s 50-50 because on our side, we are well rested. We had a week or two to prepare for this one. So, mentally, I feel like we are fresh and physically also, we are fresh,” added Bvuma.
