Thembinkosi Lorch went from hero to zero for the Buccaneers after he scored the equaliser for Orlando Pirates to send the match into penalties – only to miss from the spot in the shootout.

The match finished goalless after 90 minutes.

RS Berkane took a 1-0 lead in the first period of extra-time through Youssef El Fahli, with Lorch scoring in the 117th minute.

The Moroccan side, who won the CAF Confederation Cup in 2020, were flawless in the penalty shootout, winning 5-4 to lift the trophy.

South Africa remain winless in the second-tier African competition.
