CAF Champions League: The THREE teams Sundowns could face

Sundowns are into the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League as Group B winners following their 2-1 win over Coton Sport on Saturday.

Mamelodi Sundowns are through to the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League as Group B winners following their 2-1 win over Coton Sport on Saturday.

Marie Mekong scored an own goal to give Sundowns the lead on the stroke of half-time before Abubeker Nasir scored the second to seal the top spot.

From Group B, Sundowns progressed to the quarter-finals alongside familiar foes Al Ahly who finished second after six games.

Now, Sundowns can only draw teams that finished second in their respective groups, and those teams don’t include Al Ahly as they were in the same group.

THREE POSSIBLE OPPONENTS SUNDOWNS COULD FACE

The three teams that Sundowns can be drawn against are JS Kabylie of Algeria from Group A, Tanzanian giants Simba SC from Group C or Algerian giants CR Belouizdad from Group D.

So, what this means is that Sundowns should brace themselves for a trip either to Tanzania to Algeria in the quarter-finals.

WHEN WILL SUNDOWNS KNOW THEIR CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE OPPONENTS?

The CAF Champions League draw for the quarter-finals will take place on Wednesday, 5 April in Cairo, Egypt at 20:30 SA time.

And immediately afterwards, the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final draw will also be conducted where Marumo Gallants will be waiting in anticipation.
