After a bitterly disappointing 4-0 defeat to Wydad towards the end of February, Amakhosi bounced back by recording two wins and two draws in all competitions, including a morale-boosting 1-0 victory over Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates prior to the international break.

And Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to pick up where they left off as they prepare to face Wydad at the FNB Stadium.

Experienced forward Bernard Parker says Kaizer Chiefs had a near full-strength squad in training during the international break as they worked on a number of different tactical set-ups.

“The game that’s coming up is very important for us,” Parker told the official Kaizer Chiefs website.

“During the international break, we were lucky that we still had a near full squad to prepare with.

“We are refreshed, we’ve regrouped, and we are in a good state physically and mentally for us to go into this match.

“We know how important it is and we have been working on quite a few combinations in certain departments.”

Parker added: “We owe it to our supporters and to ourselves to do well. This is a home game at FNB Stadium, and we must get the three points.

“They made it difficult for us in the previous game with their tactics and the way they approached the game.”

Wydad, meanwhile, managed to continue their fine run of form after that convincing win over Kaizer Chiefs.

Their form mirrors that of Kaizer Chiefs, with two wins and two draws recorded since that 4-0 win in Ouagadougou.

Wydad are now three points clear at the top of the standings in the Moroccan top flight thanks to a 2-0 win over second-placed Raja Casablanca on 21 March.

Kick-off is at 18:00.
