That’s 28 days of inactivity for Amakhosi since their last match – the CAF Champions League semi-final second leg tie against Wydad Athletic Club at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, 26 June.

That match finished goalless which was enough to give the Soweto side a 1-0 aggregate victory to book their first ever final spot in Africa’s premier club competition.

Kaizer Chiefs’ last tasted victory five weeks ago in the semi-final first leg when Samir Nurkovic’s strike gave them a vital away goal which the Glamour Boys managed to hold onto in the return leg.

The lack of game-time will surely be of concern even to Kaizer Chiefs’ must die-hard supporters.

By contrast, their opponents on Saturday, Al Ahly, have played FOUR matches in the same period.

Since completing a resounded 4-0 aggregate victory over Esperance Tunis in the CAF Champions League semi-finals, Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly side have played four Egyptian Premier League matches.

They have won three of those (the last three) and drew the other.

They have proven to be red-hot in front of goal – and stingy in defence – having scored no fewer than 12 goals while conceding just three.

In fact, in Al Ahly’s last seven matches they have scored 18 times and conceded just those three goals.

Saturday’s CAF Champions League final will take place in Casablanca, Morocco at the Mohammed V stadium.

Kick-off is at 21:00 SA time.
