Benni McCarthy will be taking charge of the biggest match of his coaching career when AmaZulu take on TP Mazembe in Congo on Saturday, 23 October.

Usuthu travel to Congo potentially 90 minutes away from history…

In arguably, McCarthy’s most important match in charge of the club yet. It is even bigger then the first leg played in Durban last week because at the end of this match we will know if AmaZulu qualify for their first-ever CAF Champions League appearance in the group stages.

McCarthy has already made history by leading the eThekwini-based side to this stage of the competition.

This after achieving the clubs highest-ever finish in the PSL. They finished second, above the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United. Earning their opportunity to play in the CAF Champions League qualifiers.

McCarthy’s side take on CAFCL veterans, Mazembe. The five time champions know all about Africa’s top continental tournament.

He certainly has his work cut out for him and will go into this match as underdogs.

They also held their own in the first leg and have every reason to believe they can win in Congo and achieve history in the process.
