Former Orlando Pirates mentor and current Egypt assistant coach Roger de Sa is BACK in South Africa, and there is a reason.

De Sa arrived in the country on Wednesday alongside Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly. In fact, the two coaches shared a plane all the way from Egypt.

WHY IS ROGER DE SA BACK IN SOUTH AFRICA?

De Sa joined Al Ahly on their plane to South Africa to watch Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League on Saturday.

Kick-off at the FNB Stadium is at 15:00.

De Sa’s task is to watch a number of Egyptian stars who play for Al Ahly and those who could potential make Carlos Queiroz’s squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup play-offs.

The Pharaohs are yet to announce their final squad for the two-legged play-off match against African champions Senegal towards the end of March.

Now, De Sa will be expected to report back to Queiroz on which Al Ahly players impressed him the most against Sundowns for the Egypt boss to make up his mind before selecting his final squad.

The first leg of the World Cup play-offs between Egypt and Senegal is on 25 March while the return leg is scheduled for 29 March.
