Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu’s market value has taken a shocking drop since joining Scottish giants Rangers FC.

Zungu joined Steven Gerrard’s Rangers on a loan deal in October 2020 with much expectation however the former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder has found it tough to break into Gerrard’s well-oiled machine.

The fact that Zungu joined the runaway Scottish Premiership leaders didn’t help his cause with Gerrard already having his winning formula well calculated.

Bongani Zungu sees massive drop in market value

Since his arrival at Rangers, Bongani Zungu’s value has dropped to a record low R22 million. Zungu peaked at parent club Amiens FC when he hit the R65 million mark during the 2018/19 season.

Why has Ben 10’s value dropped?

Bongani Zungu has struggled to get adequate game time at Rangers. His only starts for the club came in the Europa League all the way back on 20 December 2020 and in the Scottish Cup competition during 2020.

Zungu has made 9 league appearances for Rangers, all of which have been off the bench. Collectively he’s featured for just 138 minutes in League action. He’s also been an unused substitute on two previous occasions thus far.

Bongani Zungu’s drop in value does however bode well for a permanent move away from French outfit Amiens.

Rangers are rumoured to be looking at roping the South African in at the club on a permanent basis while his slashed price tag could attract interest from various top leagues given his undeniable quality.

LaLiga side RCD Mallorca were on the verge of signing Bongani Zungu last season however they failed to reach an agreement with Amiens. His reduced fee may pave the way for him this time around.

Rangers next face Hibernian in a Scottish Premiership clash this evening where Zungu will undoubtedly be looking to get some more game-time.
