This is because Amiens made it clear before the closing of the transfer window that Zungu was very much in their plans for the future.

Amiens have, so far, played nine league games without Zungu in the team, and they find themselves 17th on the Ligue 2 standings.

Now, according to Amiens manager Philippe Hinschberger, Zungu is unavailable because he’s not training with the first team.

Hinschberger said Zungu is working separately with the physical trainers as the technical team wants to help him get back to his best shape.

“Bongani Zungu works separately with the physical trainers,” said Hinschberger as quoted by le 11 Amienois.

“We want to get him completely back on his feet physically because he starts from a distance,” he added.

Zungu was, for the better part of the last transfer window, linked with a possible move away from Amiens.

The lanky midfielder was heavily linked with Kaizer Chiefs until a reported R54 million price tag was placed on his head.
