Zungu, who recently put in a stellar performance in at centre back for Amiens, received a red card on Saturday.
Amiens were taking on Pau in a French Ligue 2 encounter, and were in the driving seat at 1-0 before Zungu was shown his marching orders. That red card then seemed to change the complexion of the game for the away side, who would go on to collapse to a 2-1 loss to their opponents.

As if that was not punishment enough for Zungu, he then had to bare the full brunt of that loss, with the Amiens coach singling him out in a post-match conference.
“It’s a game we could have won without a hitch, we even had the ball and could have made it 2-0 through Chadrac [Akolo],”. The red card (to Zungu) is abnormal and everything is summed up in these two turning points of the match.” Said Amiens coach Philippe Hinschberger to French publication Le 11 Amienios.

Hinschberger went on to reiterate that Zungu was at fault and not the match official of the game.
“I don’t want to attack the referee who was pretty good, the fault is entirely on Zungu. I’m neither in his head nor in his body but he got the card. We shot ourselves in the foot, we can say that we scuttled ourselves.” Concluded Hinschberger.

It would then go from bad to worse for Zungu, as even Amiens club president Bernard Joannin, Spoke about at the incident.
“There are a lot of regrets after this defeat and disappointment also for Philippe Hinschberger, Francis De Percin and the staff of Amiens SC who prepared this match with the strong desire to win to move up the standings and overtake the evening opponent,. But two facts put an end to our very good first half. A head-to-head loss [Akolo’s chance] at the hour mark which would have allowed us to lead 2-0 and at the end of the match, what can we say about the unacceptable attitude of Bongani Zungu?”
Joannin then went into more detail about the Zungu red card,
“But two facts put an end to our very good first half. A head-to-head loss [Akolo’s chance] at the hour mark which would have allowed us to lead 2-0 and at the end of the match, what can we say about the unacceptable attitude of Bongani Zungu?” Concluded Joannin.
Zungu has just three months left on his deal with Amiens and is largely expected to leave the club as a free agent.
