Bongani Zungu goes from zero to hero in Scotland!

A special act of kindness by Bongani Zungu has taken him from Zero to Hero in Scotland with fans marveling at his gesture towards a teammate

Bongani Zungu went from zero to hero amongst his Rangers teammates and fans following their league title triumph over the weekend.

Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu was on the verge of being axed at Rangers after him and five of his teammates were caught breaking lockdown regulations in Scotland.

Bongani Zungu was publicly called out for his actions that put the whole squad in jeopardy by fans across social media however he has since won back the hearts of the Rangers faithful!

Bongani Zungu goes from zero to hero in Scotland

Steven Gerrard and Rangers clinched the Scottish Premiership title over the weekend and Bongani Zungu made the experience all the more incredible for one of his teammates.

Rangers right-back James Tavernier was surprised with a phone call from his hero, Lucas Radebe. Zungu had arranged for the call from his compatriot and fans were left marveling at his special act of kindness.

James Tavernier was left in shock after the call from Leeds and Bafana Bafana legend Lucas Radebe and took to social media to express his joy.

“One of the most memorable nights I will never forget! Winning 55! Then my boy Bongani Zungu surprising me with a call to my hero Lucas Radebe. One of the best days of my life!” James Tavernier wrote on Instagram.

It remains to be seen whether Rangers and Steven Gerrard will opt to keep Bafana Bafana midfielder Zungu on at the club at the end of the season.

He joined the Scottish champions on a season-long loan from French outfit Amiens. The former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungu has ultimately struggled for game-time under and will have to patiently wait to find out if he has done enough to secure a permanent move at the club.
