Bongani Zungu on target in Amiens’ French Cup win!

South African midfielder Bongani Zungu has shown just why he was itching to get back onto the pitch for Amiens.

South African midfielder Bongani Zungu has shown just why he was itching to get back onto the pitch for Amiens SC.

After months on the sidelines, Zungu returned for Amiens against Guingamp two weeks ago in the French Cup for his first appearance of the season.

Zungu appeared to have done enough as he was brought back, this time as a centre-back, against Linas-Monthlery on Sunday.

And he hardly put his foot wrong although he may be criticised for the three goals that Amiens conceded in that thrilling 3-3 draw after extra time.

Amiens were leading 3-0 after 53 minutes of play only to concede three second half goals against the French minnows in the remaining minutes of the match.

The game then went into extra time with Amiens edging Linas-Monthlery 4-3 on penalties to advance to the next round.

Zungu converted his spot-kick to mark his full return to the Amiens setup, and it remains how long he will keep his place in the team.

WILL ZUNGU STAY LONGER AT AMIENS?

Zungu returned to Amiens at the end of last season following his loan spell with Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers.

Upon his return, Zungu lashed out at Manager Philippe Hinschberger before confirming that he wanted to leave Amiens at the end of his contract.

But could the latest developments see Zungu stay longer at Amiens?

Only time will tell but Zungu’s contract with Amiens is coming to an end of the current season.
