Banyana Banyana won the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) by beating Morocco 2-1 in their own backyard on Saturday night.

Hilda Magaia scored twice for the South Africans in the second half while Rosella Ayane netted for Morocco but it was too little too late.
Banyana Banyana lifted the WAFCON trophy without losing or drawing a match in the entire tournament in Morocco.

In the process, Desiree Ellis’ charges scored 10 goals and conceded just three as they were eventually crowned African champions.
But what’s important is that Banyana Banyana lifted the trophy having won all six of their WAFCON matches, something they should be proud of.
