The former Mamelodi Sundowns star believes there is no “consistency in the technical side” and that’s affecting the growth of the team.

“If we can have some sort of consistency in the technical side, irrespective of the philosophy of play but as a long as the there’s lot of consistency there and then we’ll start seeing changes,” Teko Modise said on Prime Sports With Mahlatse.

“Because you look at all successful countries in this continent, for instance Senegal.

“They were number one for two years in the continent and for them to be there, you look at the coach. It’s a homeboy who played in the national team that everybody loves and understand.

“He understands the culture of Senegal, he understands everything that has to do with the players, the players wanna play for him.

“And there he is, he ends up winning AFCON after losing in the final. So there’s a lot of consistency, without consistency, it’s very difficult to achieve those types of thing.

Teko Modise added that SA must not be shy in taking notes from successful countries on the continent.

“And I strongly believe that if we can start implementing it, let’s copy the right things from all these great countries. Football wise in Africa, we’re one of the best but we are in international stage, we’re coming short everytime.

“So I think maybe if the certain things can change, maybe we improve also the hunger for players to start playing for Bafana Bafana or maybe bring a better performance in a Bafana shirt.”
