The new Banyana Banyana and Bafana Bafana jersey’s were launched last month and they are now set to be on sale!

The new Le Coq Sportif jersey’s were launched ahead of Banyana Banyana’s World Cup campaign which is set to kick off in July.

LeCoq Sportif had previously only produced one kit for Bafana Bafana since becoming the official apparel partner for South African national teams in 2020.

Towards the end of the previous year, LeCoq Sportif gave South African citizens to design a kit they thought would be fitting for Bafana Bafana to don going forward. After multiple stages of the competition, it would be the designs submitted by Lwazi Ngcungama of FreewayartsD who would emerge victorious, beating off stern competition that included over 50 participants.

It was not just the citizens of South Africa that voted, but even those that represent the country in Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana players who also had a say in the new kit. Now, with Desiree Ellis’ charges set to take part in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, it seems like South African’s will get to show their full support for the national side by buying their kit in time for the start of the global showpiece. 

Cost and release date for national jersey’s revealed

That is because, according to reports, the new Banyana Banyana and Bafana Bafana jersey’s will be made available for public sale at the end of May, and are set to set back the consumer no less than R999,99 if they wish to purchase the strip. That is according to the leCoq Sportif South Africa official Twitter account.

Banyana Banyana are placed in a difficult group G at the World Cup, which features the likes of Sweden, Italy and Argentina. They are set to play the Swedes in their opener on the 23rd of July.  While Bafana Bafana will have their first chance to wear the new LeCoq Sportif jersey for the first time, in their last 2023 AFCON qualifier against Morocco at home in June.
