Kaizer Chiefs attacker Kgaogelo Sekgota is positive regarding the prospect of taking his form for the club to the national team.

Sekgota got his chance off the bench and was a hassling presence on the left flank against Mozambique.

Having been brought on to replace the hero of the piece Bongokuhle Hlongwane, Sekgota helped his team keep the pressure on Mozambique in the last 20 minutes.

The Kaizer Chiefs attacker hopes to get more minutes in the next outing.

“It is nice to be in the squad and having good players around.

“This is a good environment for me as a player. I am learning and improving every time we get together in the national team,” Sekgota said according to Soccer Laduma.

“I am working hard and improving every day. We are on a break at club level; hence it is good for us to play in a match. At least one will get to keep fit and come back stronger after the break”

The Kaizer Chiefs man will have some task on his hands if he wants to unseat the rapidly improving Hlongwane.

The battle for the left wing

Hlongwane, himself once a Kaizer Chiefs target, left Maritzburg earlier this year and has been learning a lot at Minnesota United.

Minnesota have used him as a centre forward or on the right wing but Broos likes his wide men to cut inside.

This means right-footed players like Hlongwane could be deployed on the left.

Sekgota on the other hand is a naturally left-footed player. The Kaizer Chiefs man might be more inclined to create chances for others rather than score them himself from the left.

Broos is spoiled for choice in terms of tactical flexibility, but players in good goal-scoring touch are few and far between in the PSL at the moment.
