Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has explained why he selected Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Njabulo Blom in his most recent squad.

The last time the 22-year-old featured for the national team was when Broos’ charges beat Ghana 1-0.
The Belgian tactician says Blom has been doing what he is looking for as a defensive midfielder.

“I think when I saw the performances of Kaizer Chiefs the last five or six weeks, they were struggling a bit although they are doing better better little by little now, but Blom was always performing,” Broos told SABC Sport as quoted by KickOff.
“He was not disappointing, even in a team that was not really playing well.
“I think if you can do that…and then the way he is playing now in that position – because before he was at right-back or right offensive midfielder – but what he is doing now is also what I am looking for a defensive midfielder.”

The South African senior national team beat Sierra Leone 4-0 and Botswana 1-0 in two friendly internationals last month.
They will now tackle on Mozambique and Angola in two friendly internationals in Mbombela next week.
