Hugo Broos on the warpath after Botswana win: ‘Some players not good enough!’

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos lambasted some players for failing to deliver what he expected from them in their friendly against Botswana on Monday evening at the FNB Stadium.

A solitary goal by Teboho Mokoena propelled South Africa to a 1-0 win over their spirited Zebras opponents.

Despite winning the match, Broos expressed his disappointment with his team’s performance and was clear that some DStv Premiership players struggle when it comes to international games.

BROOS UNHAPPY WITH BAFANA’S PERFORMANCE AGAINST BOTSWANA

“First of all I’m happy with the victory, this was something that was a goal for us in this camp, to have two victories and we have them,” Broos said in the press conference after the match as per iDiski Times.

“[It brings] satisfaction and happiness but on the other side I’m not happy with the performance today. This is not what we expected.

“I think it’s clear that some players are maybe not good enough or are not able to bring what you have to do on this level. PSL is something but International games are tougher, are quicker, are different.

“Therefore also I chose to have two teams to see what those teams can do, what the players can do. Again, today I’m not happy with it, I’m really not happy, but we won and that’s the most important thing.”
