South Africa were drawn in Group K of the qualifiers alongside Morocco, Zimbabwe and Liberia in what many fancy as the easiest group for Broos’ men.

In his own words, Broos admitted that Morocco pose the biggest threat among the three opponents, saying they are a very good team.

The Belgian mentor further said perhaps Morocco are the strong favourites to top Group K, adding that Bafana Bafana have to beat them if they are to top the group.

HUGO BROOS SAYS MOROCCO ARE BAFANA BAFANA’S BIGGEST THREAT

“It is clear that Morocco is the best team in our group. They were in the Afcon in January, they were eliminated by Egypt and they are a very good team,” Broos told SAFA media.

“Maybe Morocco are the best of our group.”

“I know this team very well. So, I think if we want to be first in our group, we have to beat Morocco. On the other side there is Zimbabwe.”

BROOS: BAFANA BAFANA KNOW ZIMBABWE

Broos also made mention of both Zimbabwe and Liberia – he believes Bafana Bafana now know the Warriors having recently been in the same group as them.

Bafana Bafana played Zimbabwe twice during the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers – the South Africans collected four points off the Warriors.

“We played against Zimbabwe during the qualifiers for the World Cup. We know them very well, we played two times against them last year. So, they are a tough team. But this is a team we have to beat,” he said.

“We are better than we were a few months ago. So, I think if we can beat them twice it will be very good for us.

LIBERIA ARE THE WEAKEST TEAM – BROOS

In his assessment of Liberia, Broos said they are the weakest team in Group K but warned against underestimating them, saying the underdogs can be dangerous.

Broos said he will sit down with his Bafana Bafana technical team and check how Liberia have played in the past few months in preparing for their Afcon tie.

“Liberia for me are a team I don’t know, I don’t know the players, so it is up to us in the coming weeks to look at their games.”

“Maybe Liberia are the weakest team in the group but it is always dangerous to underestimate an opponent. So, for that, first of all we are going to look at their games, their last few games, see how good they are.

“So, if we look at this group, first of all Morocco are the best team, Zimbabwe our neighbours, very tough games, and Liberia normally are the weakest team,” added Broos.
