Bafana Bafana striker Bongokuhle Hlongwane has reflected on South Africa’s win in their friendly against Mozambique on Thursday.

Bafana Bafana striker Bongokuhle Hlongwane has reflected on South Africa’s come-from-behind win in their international friendly against Mozambique on Thursday night.

The 22-year-old was the hero of the day after he netted two goals in the second half to ensure that Bafana Bafana grabbed a 2-1 victory over the Mambas.

The former Maritzburg United forward was awarded the man of the match award after the game.

Hlongwane was thankful to coach Hugo Broos who brought him back into the team despite having only recently returned from injury.

HLONGWANE REACTS TO WIN AGAINST MOZAMBIQUE

“I’m grateful to the coach that he brought me back to the team,” Hlongwane told SABC Sports.

“I was injured, so I’m back. I’m happy that we were able to win the game. We’re also grateful to the supporters who came out to rally behind us.

“It means a lot to us, that’s why were fighting, we fought for them.”

Hlongwane also revealed what Broos told them during the half-time break which boosted the team’s confidence in the second half.

“The way we played first half was right but we thought we weren’t doing well,” he added.

“He said if we must continue the way we were playing, we would create chances and score the goals.”
