OFFICIAL: Venue for Bafana’s friendlies vs Sierra Leone & Botswana

The venue for the two international friendly matches that Bafana Bafana will play in late September has officially been confirmed.

The venue for the two international friendly matches that Bafana Bafana will play in late September has officially been confirmed.

The South African website has had it confirmed that the FNB Stadium will be the venue for both the Sierra Leone and Botswana friendlies.

Bafana Bafana will host Sierra Leone on 24 September before welcoming Botswana on 27 September at the iconic FIFA World Cup venue.

The three countries understand that these matches carry little weight as they will only count towards the FIFA rankings for October.

The majority of countries who are going to the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals in Qatar between November and December will use this break to prepare for the tournament itself.

The African continent will be represented by Senegal, Ghana, Morocco, Cameroon and Tunisia at the global event in Qatar.

HUGO BROOS TO ANNOUNCE LATEST BAFANA SQUAD ON THURSDAY

On Thursday, 15 September, Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos will announce the squad to face both Sierra Leone and Botswana.

A number of players who stood out since the start of the PSL season are expected to form part of Broos’ latest squad, and they include Khanyisa Mayo of Cape Town City.

Players such as Miguel Timm and Nkosinathi Sibisi from Orlando Pirates, as well as Mamelodi Sundowns full-back Khuliso Mudau could also be included.

Bafana Bafana vice-captain and Al Ahly attacker Percy Tau is most certain to miss out on the squad after struggling for game time at his current club.
