Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named his final 23-man squad to play friendly matches against Guinea and France later this month.

The South African national team will travel to Belgium to take on Guinea on Friday, March 25 before facing current world champions France on their home turf on Tuesday, March 29.

Broos is in the early stages of preparing his side for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which begin in June after the disappointment of their unsuccessful 2022 Soccer World Cup qualification campaign.

France are ranked third in the most recent FIFA rankings, with South Africa in 68th place and Guinea 81st.

Broos had earlier named a preliminary 29-man squad.

Seven players were cut, while another, Mamelodi Sundowns’ Mothobi Mvala, was added having not previously been part of the original squad.

So who were the SEVEN players to miss out?

They were:

Goalkeeper: Brandon Petersen (Kaizer Chiefs)

Defenders: Sbonelo Cele (Golden Arrows), Veluyeke Zulu (Chippa United), Rivaldo Coetzee (Mamelodi Sundowns)

Midfielders: Mduduzi Mdantsane (Cape Town City), Pule Mmodi (Golden Arrows)

Striker: Victor Letsoalo (Royal AM)

The team will travel to Paris on Monday, 21 March.
