REVEALED | THE PSL INCOMPETENCE THAT LED TO CANCELLED BROOS MEETINGS

As is often the case, attention immediately turned to which PSL teams had the most players selected – and who missed out.

In terms of big-name player casualties, in no particular order Njabulo Blom, S’fiso Hlanti and Njabulo Ngcobo (all Kaizer Chiefs), Themba Zwane and Andile Jali (both Mamelodi Sundowns) and France-based Bongani Zungu appear to be the most eyebrow-raising absentees.

In terms of PSL team representation, there’s no surprise to learn that reigning DStv Premiership champions and runaway log leaders this season, Mamelodi Sundowns, have the greatest number of players with 5.

Three teams – Kaizer Chiefs, Golden Arrows and Orlando Pirates – have 3 players, while Cape Town City FC have contributed 2.

Interestingly, there are 4 overseas-based players in the squad – and ALL 4 are strikers, which may well say something about the quality – or lack thereof – of marksmen in Mzansi.
