Bafana Bafana to play one more international friendly in France!

Bafana Bafana will play France in an international friendly on 29 March in France but that’s not the only match on the menu.

The South Africans were expected to secure at least two more friendlies for the upcoming FIFA break.

Now, according to coach Hugo Broos, as per Sowetan, Bafana Bafana will play Guinea on 25 March – and that match will also be played in France.

Bafana Bafana have not been active since their failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup play-offs.

This was after suffering that controversial 1-0 defeat to the Black Stars of Ghana in their final group match.

BAFANA BAFANA WON’T FACE BURKINA FASO OR ZAMBIA

In February 2022, the South African Football Association (SAFA) CEO Tebogo Motlanthe confirmed talks with Burkina Faso and Zambia over a possible friendly.

However, it appears SAFA failed in their attempts to convince either of the two nations to play them, but Guinea were keen to step in and be Bafana Bafana’s opponents.

Bafana Bafana and Guinea have met four times before with the South Africans dominating the fixture.

The first meeting was in March 2001 for the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals – Bafana Bafana and Guinea played to two goalless draws in the two-legged qualifiers.

Bafana Bafana then got the better of Guinea on two separate occasions – a 2-0 win in 2006, and a 1-0 win in 2008.

Details around the kick-off time and venue for the encounter against Guinea have yet to be made public.
