Bafana Bafana latest: Hugo Broos names squad to face Uganda

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named a 19-man squad to play Uganda in a friendly international match on Thursday, 10 June.

The match will be played at Orlando Stadium and kicks off at 18:00.

The match against the East Africans will be the first for Bafana Bafana since the final AFCON qualifying match against Sudan in Khartoum on 29 March which South Africa lost 2-0.

The friendly with Uganda is part of Bafana Bafana’s preparations for the upcoming Qatar 2022 Soccer World Cup qualifiers.

South Africa are in Group G, together with Ghana, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia.

Bafana Bafana commence their campaign away to Zimbabwe before welcoming arch-rivals Ghana to South Africa.

True to his promise when he was unveiled as Bafana Bafana coach, Broos has named a squad comprising mainly of up-and-coming players to play Uganda.

Hugo Broos, who previously won the AFCON title with Cameroon, said his immediate aim was to build a squad which would compete for titles in the coming years.

Bafana Bafana are ranked 75th in the latest FIFA rankings while Uganda are 84th.
