Bafana Bafana latest | Broos hopes for a draw against Zimbabwe

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has lowered the expectations on his team ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe.

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has lowered the expectations on his team ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe.

Broos will be on the bench for the first time on 3 September, and while he said Bafana Bafana will try to win, he feels a draw away from home will do the team a world of good.

Kick-off for the encounter at the Zimbabwe National Sports Stadium is at 15:00.

“I don’t like to predict that we will win or that the score will be 2-1 or whatever but the only thing I want, and hope is that we have a good result in Zimbabwe,” Broos told reporters.

“A draw in Zimbabwe will be a good result. It will give us confidence for the next game [against Ghana].

The 69-year-old Belgian mentor added that a loss with a heavy scoreline would be detrimental to their his team’s confidence.

“Losing, especially with a heavy score, will not do the players’ confidence any good,” continued Broos.

“I hope we will draw, and we will take it from there. We will try to win.

I am not saying we are going for a draw. I think by the time we go to Zimbabwe, we should be ready,” added Broos.
