Bafana Bafana jump in latest FIFA world rankings

South Africa have “jumped” two spots in the latest FIFA world rankings following Bafana Bafana’s COSAFA Cup triumph last month.

Bafana Bafana emerged victorious at the tournament after defeating guests Senegal in the final at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha.

As a result, South Africa now occupy 73rd place in the standings and are ranked 13th on the African continent.

Meanwhile, Senegal retained their status as Africa’s highest-ranked team after climbing one place to 21st in the rankings.

Overall, Belgium are still ranked No 1 in the world while Brazil swapped places with France in second and third.

Euro 2020 winners Italy are up to fifth and Copa America victors Argentina in sixth.
