Bafana Bafana are set to take on world champions France as well as Guinea in two friendly internationals during the upcoming March international break.

New dawn for Bafana Bafana

It will now feel like a different lifetime ago, when Broos last led a Bafana Bafana side to battle. That last occasion, however, will remain memorable for years to come for obvious reasons. Now after their controversy riddled 2022 Qatar Fifa World Cup qualifying campaign, the national team will embark on a new dawn.

Broos is the first to acknowledge the new dawn, and has marked that occasion by the manner of his selections for his latest squad. There have been quite a few casualties from the team that played against Ghana. There have also been a few inclusions of players that the veteran Belgian coach has been accused of ignoring in the past. Ahead of that queue have been the Mamelodi Sundowns duo of Lyle Lakay and Rivaldo Coetzee

Why the new faces

Speaking to the media after naming his squad, Broos explained the intentions behind his selection of the new faces.

“These are friendly games, but they are more about preparation. These games are an opportunity for us to try some things, You cannot try things when you are playing qualifiers, you have to be sure when you put your team on the pitch. You have to be sure that those are the right players in the right positions. Now we can try [new things now] and we can see what that those players are giving to the team.  I’m thinking about Mosele [Goodman], I’m thinking about Shandu [Bandile], I’m thinking about Lakay [Fagrie].“Those players can be an improvement for us. The result for me is not so important, not at all. But  I want to see the things we try in those games can be improvement for the team or not”. Said Broos on his latest Bafana Bafana selection as per iDiskiTimes
