Arthur Zwane reacts to Yusuf Maart’s Bafana Bafana snub

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has commented on Yusuf Maart’s Bafana Bafana omission after he was part of the preliminary squad.

Bafana Bafana will play two international friendlies against Mozambique and Angola later this month.

Maart was part of the 30-man preliminary squad that was named by Hugo Broos before he trimmed it down to 23 players – and the 27-year-old didn’t make the cut.

Maart recently scored a goal that’s considered to be a FIFA Puskas contender to claim a 1-0 win for Amakhosi over Orlando Pirates in the DStv Premiership.

‘10111’ is crossing his fingers that the former Sekhukhune United star will be part of Bafana Bafana in future.

ZWANE ON YUSUF MAART’S BAFANA BAFANA OMISSON

“That’s football, we respect the national team coach’s opinion,” Zwane said at the club’s media open day as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

“He knows the players that he wants and how he wants to play, we have to respect that and give him the support that he deserves.

“Yes, Yusuf for me has been doing well. I know that as time goes on, he’ll also improve and be a better player and it will obviously depend on the coach as to whether he’ll select him going forward but as for the national team, it’s all about individual performance-based, in terms of being selected.

“I think that alone will help Yusuf as well look at himself and as to how we can help him as coaches to improve his game, and I have no doubt he’ll part of the national team in the future.”
