Tau got on the score sheet for Al Ahly, but was then substituted at the half time break with coach Pitso Mosimane now explaining why.

Tau has not been in the best of form

Before netting against Al-Merrikh, Tau was having a goal drought as well as a loss of form in the Al-Ahly jersey. The concerns over his form eventually found themselves to Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos who expressed that the “Lion of Judah” is not the player he knows and was worried about his current. It then looked as if, Broos would have to worry no more, as Tau would go on to break his goal drought by finding the back of the net for Al Ahly against their Sudanese counterparts on Friday. Unfortunately for all of Al Ahly, Mosimane, Tau and Broos, that would prove to be as good as it gets for the skilful left footer. As many would have rightfully wondered why the change had been made at that time, especially since Tau had made a positive impact during the first 45 minutes. Mosimane then went on to explain the thinking behind the decision.

Mosimane explains

“Forced replacement injury,” said Mosimane in a short and straight to the point answer in reference to a question on Tau’s substitution as per iDiskiTimes

Mosimane then went on to praise the quality of his bench.

Praises Al Ahly depth

“I always say I don’t want to make excuses of too many games because we’re Al Ahly we play more than any team in Africa, last season, even this season, no team has played more than us. But this match was a game of character and the players respected the bench and we fought for the game, you have to give respect to Sudanese teams, they are fighting, fearless, forceful, very brave teams.”. Concluded Mosimane.
