Bafana Bafana boost as Bongani Zungu cleared for Sudan showdown

Bongani Zungu has been cleared to link up with Bafana Bafana for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan on Sunday, 28 March.

South Africa take on Ghana on Thursday, 25 March at the FNB Stadium before jetting off to Sudan for a second group stage match.

A number of Bafana regulars have been forced to miss both matches as a result of travel bans due to Covid-19.

But Bafana Bafana national team doctor Thulani Ngwenya has confirmed Bongani Zungu’s participation this weekend while he continues to work to secure other key players.

Ngwenya told Times Live: “Zungu is confirmed. He’ll be joining us in Sudan. With (Keagan) Dolly we’re still hoping and there are still negotiations happening.

“But then Thulani [Serero] and Dean [Furman] it’s confirmed – they are not coming.”
