The 27-year-old Bafana Bafana international was set to make his debut on Tuesday, 21 September when Al Ahly take on El-Gaish in the 2019/20 Egyptian Super Cup.

However, that debut is now on hold after Tau reportedly sustained a hamstring injury which will see him sidelined for between three weeks and a month.

Following the injury, Al Ahly medical staff head Ahmed Abo-Ablaa discussed Tau’s situation in a statement he made to the club’s TV channel.

“Tau doesn’t have any chronic injuries, he suffered this injury during his stay in his national team’s camp,” Abo-Ablaa said.

“When Percy returned to Egypt, we checked his current state, he’s suffering a partial hamstring tear, it’s nothing serious.

“The player started his solo training alongside his physical therapy. He’s recovering day after day and will be joining the team’s training in a week or so.”

Kick-off in the Egyptian Super Cup is at 19:00 SA time.
