After close to a week of speculation and photoshop, Kaizer Chiefs has confirmed that veteran midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala is off to Turkish Super Lig outfit BB Erzurumspor.

The 33-year-old did not feature in the Soweto giants’ MTN8 semifinal fixture against Supersport United over the weekend but could be seen alongside the club’s football manager Bobby Motaung in the executive suites wearing a suit, giving an indication that he was on his way out of Naturena.

On Tuesday, Amakhosi confirmed via their website that the winger was indeed exiting the club, 11 years since joining from Free State Stars.

“‘Shabba’, as the Soweto-born is affectionately known, has made a fantastic contribution to Amakhosi over the years and will take his place among the legends of the club.”

What we know about Shabba’s new home, Erzurumspor

Erzurumspor is a relatively new club, as they were only founded 13 years ago in 2005.

The club is managed by Mehmet Altıparmak, who helped them achieved promotion to the Süper Lig last season.

They have been quite active in the transfer market and, along with Tshabalala, they have  recently brought in another African player in Senegalese striker Moussa Kone.

Currently, Erzurumspor is languishing near the base of the Süper Lig table, having registered their first point in the top flight in their last outing where they held Rizespor to a goalless draw last Friday.
