Veteran Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala is well on his way to realising his dream of playing in Europe, at the ripe age of 33.

The winger has been with the Soweto giants for over a decade since signing from Free State Stars and was reportedly close to a move abroad, following his exploits in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Siphiwe Tshabalala could finally leave Naturena

After reports of interest from Turkish club Erzurumspor, where he is said to have been involved in talks over a possible move, it appears that he may leave Chiefs after all.

According to The Citizen, the Süper Lig outfit has confirmed that Tshabalala is well on the way to the Turkish top flight.

“Principle agreement reached the official signature of the experienced footballer will take place two days after he travels to Erzurum (translated from Turkish),” the club said.

“Siphiwe Tshabalala is a position number 10 midfielder, will sign a 2-year deal.”

Agent unaware of Erzurumspor interest

However, as Goal reports, Siphiwe Tshabalala’s agent Jazzman Mahlakgane is unaware of his player’s imminent move to Turkey.

“Yeah, I heard about this in the media, but I am the only agent representing Tshabalala and they (Chiefs) could’ve told me about if they have agreed with this club,” Mahlakgane told the publication on Thursday.

“I will check with them, and you can check with me tomorrow (Friday). I’m sure I will have something for you.”

What we know about Shabba’s rumoured new home

Erzurumspor is a relatively new club, as they were only founded 13 years ago in 2005.

The club is managed by Mehmet Altıparmak, who helped them achieved promotion to the Süper Lig last season.

They are yet to register a win after two games in the top flight and have recently signed Senegalese striker Moussa Kone.
