That’s how you fist pump.

World Cup 2018: Senegal’s coac

Senegal got their World Cup campaign off to a winning start on Tuesday night, beating Poland 1-2 and becoming the first African side to win at this year’s competition.

Their fans went viral after the match for their gesture of cleaning up the stands. But coach Aliou Cissé became a viral sensation of his own for his epic fist pump celebration on the sidelines.

The celebration was pretty tame, but it was just so epic. The coach rocked the fist pump after  M’Baye Niang’s crafty goal put Senegal 2-0 up at halftime.

Cissé did three (or three and a half?) fist pumps and didn’t break eye contact with the camera even when the fist-pumping stopped. Such swag.

Solid. Strong. Epic. We approve. Unlike the weird celebration rules that prevent players from getting excited.

The Lions of Teranga are now dreaming of a repeat of their run to the quarter-finals in 2002.

“Of course we represent our country but I can also guarantee that the whole of Africa is supporting us,” said impressive Senegal coach Aliou Cisse.

He is also the only black coach at the 2018 World Cup and called for more local coaches on the continent after his side’s epic win on Tuesday.

“I represent a new generation that would like to have its place among African football and world football,” he said.

“We’re good players with pasts as professional football players and are very good tactically. We have the right to be among the top international coaches.”

And he is hopeful that one day a team from the continent can win the Cup.

“I am certain that one day an African team, an African country, will win the World Cup,” he said.

But he said it would take time, adding: “It’s a bit more complicated in our countries. We face realities that are not there in other continents.”

“But Africa is full of quality and we’re on the way,” he said. “We fully trust our football, we have no complexes.

“You see lots of African players in European clubs, now we need African coaches for our continent to go ahead.”
