The stand-out clash from Round 7 of the 2022 Varsity Cup was the Cape ‘derby’ between third-placed hosts UCT Ikeys and top-placed visitors Maties.

At one point in the match, it appeared that Ikeys player Keagan Blanckenberg had suffered an injury, with the referee asking if he needed to go for a Head Injury Assessment.

As it turned, the medic simply confirmed to the referee that he had actually just been “kicked in the balls” as they all shared a laugh.

You can watch the exchange from the Varsity Cup below:

When the final whistle sounded, the host had turned around a 17-10 half-time deficit to run out deserved 44-27 winners.
