Fleurs matriculated at Hoër Landbouskool Marlow in Graaff Reinet and represented Eastern Province at the 2017 Craven Week.

He enrolled at the University of Stellenbosch in 2018 and in the same year made the Maties Young Guns team which would go on to win the competition for a second year running.

The now 22-year-old, who is equally at home at both fullback and flyhalf, finished this year’s Varsity Cup with 118 points in the competition.

Fleurs landed six penalties in Maties’ shock 29-23 defeat to defending champions UP-Tuks in the final at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch late last month.
