UPDATE: Shoulder surgery for Bok flyhalf

Bok flyhalf Elton Jantjies has had to undergo shoulder surgery after suffering a serious injury while playing for his club in Japan.

According to Sunday newspaper Rapport, Jantjies underwent surgery on Thursday, and the Bok pivot is now expected to be out for between two and three months.

“He should maybe play with us again in April. . . the last few games of the season,” Red Hurricanes coach Johan Ackermann said.

Jantjies suffered the injury while playing his debut match for the Red Hurricanes against the Ricoh Black Rams in Japan’s League One.

Jantjies should be in time for the Boks’ first Test of the year against Wales on 2 July at Loftus Versfeld.
