Young Stormers loose forward Marcel Theunissen says the reigning URC champions will be out to stamp their authority on the Sharks when they meet in Durban this weekend.

Stormers don’t wan’t to allow Sharks to control game

Theunissen acquitted himself well in the Stormers big loss away to Ulster last weekend and says he took confidence from that performance.

“I enjoyed getting a bit of game time again although results did not go our way,” Theunissen said according to IOL.

“The way I played will give me some confidence going forward, there are a few good things that came out of it (the game). But there’s also a few areas that we could learn from which will make us better in the future.”

Theunissen believes that the Sharks will do everything they can to disrupt the Stormers and prevent them from settling.

He feels that everything starts with a solid defence for the Stormers against a dangerous Sharks team.

“Our defence systems need to be good and we have to stick to what we want to do and not fall for their game plan. If we work harder on the day, we will be able to get the victory,” Theunissen said.

In good form

The Sharks were the only South African team to win with all four franchises on the road last weekend.

Their away win in Edinburgh propelled them back into the top eight of the URC standings.

While the Sharks are 12 points behind the Stormers they have a game in hand and will be eager to further cement a playoff spot by continuing their climb up the table.

The Sharks could move as high as sixth on the log with victory over the Stormers with the South African derby the only URC action this weekend.

Both sides have to rest their Springbok regulars in accordance with SA Rugby protocols.

However, we expect this match to prove to be an absolute barn-burner.
