Springboks star at fullback for Bulls

Kurt-Lee Arendse is one of four Springboks selected in the Bulls starting XV for Saturday’s United Rugby Championship showdown against Cardiff at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.

The Bulls have been given a boost by the return of Springboks as Marco van Staden, Johan Goosen, Canan Moodie and Arendse to the run-on lineup for the URC clash against Cardiff.

There is also a return to the match 23 for Cornal Hendricks, who was rested last week.

Van Staden, Moodie and Arendse still played for the Springboks against England last weekend, while Goosen and Hendricks were part of the SA ‘A’ tour squad.

Also back in the mix for the Bulls after missing some action due to injury is Johan Grobbelaar, who slots straight back at hooker for the match against the Welsh side, that beat the Sharks by 35-0 in Durban last weekend.

Zak Burger, Cyle Brink, Ruan Vermaak and Mornay Smith are promoted from the bench to starting roles, and as a result of the changes to the team Nizaam Carr, Chris Smith, Lionel Mapoe, Embrose Papier, Janko Swanepoel and Francois Klopper all drop down to the bench.

Wandisile Simelane, Stravino Jacobs, WJ Steenkamp, Bismarck du Plessis, Morne Steyn and Marco Jansen van Vuren are not involved this weekend.

The ninth round clash is scheduled to kick off at 8pm South African time, and will be broadcast live on SuperSport.
