Stormers livewire winger Edwill van der Merwe is reportedly set to move to the Lions later in the year.

The 25-year-old has been one of the most exciting finds of the season and is the top try scorer in the ongoing Rainbow Cup with five tries.

Van der Merwe’s form has earned him offers from the Lions and Cheetahs, according to Sunday’s Rapport.

The former SA Under-20 star has reportedly opted for a move to the Gauteng as he feels the Lions will suit his attacking style of play better.

Van der Merwe will still be available for Western Province during the 2021 Currie Cup before his departure.

Van der Merwe was schooled at Paul Roos and played for the Maties and the Junior Boks before he was called up to Western Province and the Stormers.
