Stormers fan favourite Juan de Jongh in advanced talks to return to the Cape

Juan de Jongh is reportedly set to leave English Premiership side Wasps and make an emotional return to Western Province and the Stormers.

Juan de Jongh is reportedly set to leave English Premiership side Wasps and make an emotional return to Western Province and the Stormers.

According to Netwerk24, Stormers and WP coach John Dobson has confirmed that negotiations with Juan de Jongh are at an advanced stage.

No surprise that De Jongh was also linked with a move to Jake White’s Bulls side, but that’s reportedly now off the table.

De Jongh, 33, played 97 Super Rugby matches for the Stormers before joining Wasps in 2017.

De Jongh has struggled for game-time at Wasps this season, making only three of his 52 total Premiership appearances this campaign.

De Jongh, should he put pen to paper, is expected to sign a two-year contract with the Western Cape union and join the team in July ahead of the proposed PRO16 tournament.

De Jongh has played 19 Tests for the Springboks, the last of which came in October 2016 against the All Blacks in Durban.

He was also part of the Blitzboks squad that won the bronze medal at the 2016 Rio de Olympics.
